Our first look at Deven came at an Under Armour National Tryout, operated by Baseball Factory in South Florida after his freshman season. He immediately stood out as an advanced defender with a great feel for the game. The only thing missing was strength. Over the last year, Deven has gotten much stronger and now has elevated his offensive game to complement his ability in the field. He plays on one of the top high school teams in the country that includes last year’s Cape Cod Classic catcher Adrian Nieto. Marrero should follow in his cousin Chris’ footsteps as a high draft pick come next June.

Deven hit .485 with nine homeruns and 46 RBI for his high school, American Heritage.  Deven helped his high school team earn its first national title, as honored by Baseball America.
